Been wanting to do a little compilation of future. Since it's all videos, I will put it under a cut.
There has been quite a lot of interesting news hitting the web lately. To be more particular - ones showing us the way we will be living in a very close future. You can already start forgetting your old smartphone.
Let's start with the #1 excitement of gadget-people - Google Glass:
As you can see, for now, Google Glass is just an alpha version of what it could be, but it does make your imagination flow and it's making it clear that future mobile devices will be built based on this principle and that this is the start for their UI development.
However, I don't really think that we will do much with it being confined to that little box at our eyebrow level. It will need peripherals and peripherals will make it good. For example, we will probably be able to attach the more powerful phones to it to do all kinds of stuff.
What bothers me the most about Google Glass is the lack of sensible UI. I don't like voice commands and so do many others. We could start waving our hands in the air, but that 1) would use a lot of energy as camera will have to be turned on at all times 2) waving hands in the air is tiring 3) waving hands in the air while in public looks ridiculous and gives away anything you are doing. So how about this?
It's not that tiring for your hands, it's subtle and you can make a nice looking accessory out of it.
This is probably where everyone would imagine playing games, but let me tell you, that there is much more you can do with the combined power of both of those. You can create a world, edit it, color it and stretch however you like. The world would be in your palms as soon as you add this jewel of coding:
T(ether) – a Spatially- and Body-Aware Window for Collaborative Editing and Animation of 3D Virtual Objects from Tangible Media Group on Vimeo.
And to view this amazing world, you will not be limited to your Google Glass, no, all you need is a Smart Window that you can place wherever. Be it your bedroom window or car windshield. And yeah, forget your bulky LED TV, because TV/Monitor will be everywhere:
Worried about your electrical bill with so many gadgets? Well, don't be! We will just make everything much more energoefficient and squeeze the necessary energy out of our surroundings that are just vibrating full with our own energy waste. For instance, you could use this thingy: https://plus.google.com/+extremetech/posts/MohPXQUn8tc
Now, you have gone so far, created your virtual world, enjoying it, what now? Make it real!
And then make an invisible sticker and add your whole world to your inventory and never loose anything, including your cat, again.
Or maybe don't, as that is Big Brother scary. You know how it goes - make a couple of bad decisions, give someone too much power and you end up in this:
Or you don't think it's real enough or close enough for us to worry? Well, think again:

But who cares. The world of tomorrow is just so enticing, even if you put not as advanced technology in it and realize that the world of tomorrow could be more literal than it ever was :)
P.S. Shut up about flying cars
P.P.S. Nobody will trust you with a lightsaber even if it was possible to build.
